Just like in the conventional dating, online dating requires you to use your
common sense to be safe. The most important rules of the online dating are:
1. Take it slow. Do not rush
to meet right away after exchanging a few nice emails. Get to know the person
through our online communication tools first. Make sure to ask important
questions, see photos of the person. If you sense something is not
quite right, keep asking questions until you are satisfied with his/her answers.
2. Guard your anonymity. Do
not include your last name, address, workplace, phone number, or any other
identifying information when corresponding with other members. Keep all the
communication within the DatingHall.com site, which will protect your
identity.
3. Other helpful hints to keep in
mind:
1. Remember that you are in control of your online experience at all times.
You can remain completely anonymous until you feel ready.
2. Always provide truthful information to the person you are dating.
3. Do not give out any personal information, like your telephone number or
your personal address. It is very important to get an idea of the kind of person
whom you are dating first.
4. Maintain all communication within our network and for your safety do not
release your personal email address.
5. Be patient; begin your communication via emails or chat room only.
Remember, we keep all contacts between members onsite so your email address
remains confidential.
6. Carefully consider your partners words. Trust your instincts and if
anything makes you uncomfortable, end the communication.
7. If you decide to meet, tell your friends or relatives where you are
going, with whom, and when you will return. Pick a public place and provide your
own transportation to and from the meeting place. Send us an email if that makes
you comfortable. We care about you.
8. If you encounter someone asking for money, spamming or any odd behavior
please report them immediately.
Scam in dating services.
You have probably heard of Internet
scams. Unfortunately, dating sites have scammers as well. Any dating service
faces this problem, no matter how big or small it is. What is the dating scam
and what you can do to be safe? There are two most popular types of scams over
the Internet - Dating Scam (sex or money related) and so-called "Nigerian
Letters". Two most frequent scammer sources come from Russia (and other ex-USSR
countries), African countries and Bulgaria. Both types of scams have similar
layouts and both are easy to identify - cheaters correspond with you, write kind
and affectionate letters and finally beg you for money or ask for your bank
account information to "deposit large amount of money". As simple as
that.
You need only two tips to be
safe and not become a victim:
TIP 1 (how to identify scam): If
you got a letter from any African country stating that one of their relatives
has died, they inherited large sum of money and now need a bank account to
transfer the money - this is scam. If you got a letter from an official relative
- this is scam. If you got a letter proposing you money for some kind of service
from a person that you don't even know - this is scam. If your pen pal asks you
to send a certain amount of money for dying aunty, visa arrangements, ticket to
fly to you, pay for Internet, have an urgent surgery, etc. after a few tender
letters - this is scam.
TIP 2 (how to avoid scam): Very simple! DO NOT SEND MONEY to
anyone.
Remember that any type of solicitation, spam and/or fraudulent transactions
from an account at DatingHall is against our policy and will lead to an immediate
termination of that account!
Please report scam. Reports from our members prove to be the most efficient
way to fight it.
